Rev. Santa Claus Baptizes Child

1914

Rev. Jenkin Lloyd Jones of Lincoln Center, with his flowing beard, is very patriarchal in appearance. The other Sunday Mr. Jones baptized an entire family, from the father and mother down to the six-month-old baby. As is his custom, he presented to each one a souvenir Bible and a lily of the valley. During his ministry he has given away hundreds of these Bibles.

The three-year-old daughter of the newly baptized family was greatly impressed by the gift, and hugged it tightly to her bosom.

"Who was it," someone asked her, "that gave you that nice Bible?"

"Thanta Clauth," lisped the small girl.

"Why, no — don't you know who that was?"

"Thanta Clauth," she repeated with conviction.

"Why, of course," said the questioner, who understood children; "how stupid of me not to have known." — Chicago Inter Ocean.
