Pastor to Give Pulpit Boost for Athletics

Oakland, California, 1921

A special sermon from the subject, "The Race Track," in honor of the victorious basketball team of the church, is announced by Rev. W. A. Schwimley, pastor of Calvary Congregational church, for tomorrow evening. The basketball team has played eleven games under the auspices of the Sunday School Athletic Association, winning all, and was awarded the trophy offered by the association. The pastor has been an enthusiastic supporter of the team, and his sermon tomorrow night will be a tribute to the team and to athletics in general.

The subject of the sermon to be delivered at the 11 o'clock hour is "The Light That Failed." A week from tomorrow Rev. Schwimley will begin a series of sermons on the general subject, "What Must the Church Do to Be Saved?"
