Children's Day Program, 1904

Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 1904

Unusually Interesting Exercises at First Baptist Church

On Sunday morning in place of the regular church service, the First Baptist Sunday school gave its Children's Day program. The large audience was charmed with one of the finest exercises of the kind ever given.

The bright songs by the school and those of the primary department were sung with enthusiasm and spirit. The committee in charge had spared no effort in making the church beautiful with flowers not in the preparation of the program and each number showed the care given it.

Especial mention must be made of the recitation, "The Starless Crown," by Miss Helen McIntyre, and of the Emblematic Piece, "The Song of the Heart" by the Misses Baker, Blanche Krebs, Walters, West, Hopper, Goodell, Jennings, Reat, Jones, Mabel Krebs, Smith. The following is the program in full:

Song by the school: silent prayer; response, "The Lord is in His Holy Temple," Mrs. Farmer; 100th Psalm by three boys; Scripture response, Supt. and school; song, primary department; recitation, "The Little Preacher," Josephine Snyder; song by the school; recitation, "The Starless Crown," Helen McIntyre; song, primary department; recitation, "Discontent," Ethel Jones; song, by the school; recitation and song, Onalee Pollins and eight others. Five minutes' talk, Miss Main, Collection; song, by the school' emblematic piece, eleven girls, Doxology.
