He Sat Dead in the Church

1903

Alexander Page Passed Away In the Vestibule of the Sacred Edifice

The New Haven Times says that Alexander Page, one of the leading members of Trinity Episcopal church on the New Haven green, sat in the vestibule of the church for some time dead and no one was aware of the fact.

He had come to the evening service with his daughter and just as he stepped inside of the church he was taken ill. He was led to a chair and seated in it. While waiting for the arrival of the hospital ambulance scores of worshippers passed into the church, all taking a hasty glance at one they thought was dozing. When they undertook to carry him out to the ambulance one of the attendants said: "That man is dead."

Mr. Page was 78 years old and a well known citizen. Heart disease was the cause of death.
